FOUR DOORWAYS IN OR NEAR NEW ORLEANS

FOUR DOORWAYS IN OR NEAR NEW ORLEANS

Paperback, 336 pages, $12

(NOTE: Most of the books and short-stories by Harrigan take place in a “shared” universe, with recurring characters and situations. If there is a Rosetta Stone to that universe, this is it. So you don’t have to start with this one, but it’s not a bad idea either.)

The world is going to end in the worst possible way and there’s nothing Tom and Pan can do to stop it. Even time travel hasn’t worked. The apocalypse may be inevitable, but there is a contingency plan. The only question is; how badly does humanity want to survive and how much can a person be changed before they are no longer human?

As monsters from outside of time ravage the Earth, time traveler Tom and his synthetic friend Pan race across history to put the pieces of a desperate plan in place. Along the way they meet the victims, survivors and even the monsters themselves, learning what it means to be human, to be family, and the ultimate cost of surviving no matter what.

“…a high-octane collision of trippy, philosophical sci-fi and intense, cosmic Lovecraftian horror. Think of the Marvel show What If…but dial the weirdness up by a factor of ten.”

– 5/5, Mari N, Goodreads/Fable.com

  • Description

“…a novel diversion for genre readers looking for something a bit outside the usual “weird tales” fare that still delivers the requisite claws, fangs, and tentacles. An eccentric alien-invasion yarn of unusual scope and ambition.”
(Kirkus Reviews – FULL KIRKUS REVIEW)

“…a high-octane collision of trippy, philosophical sci-fi and intense, cosmic Lovecraftian horror. Think of the Marvel show What If…but dial the weirdness up by a factor of ten.” (Mari N, Fable.com)

“…the ending is absolutely beautiful and haunting… I am not normally an emotional reader, but the final chapters *may* have made me unexpectedly tear up.” (Ali Levine, Netgalley)

“With gorgeous writing and such developed world-building, this was a wonderful story that absolutely broke my heart. Highly recommended.” (Brooke G., Netgalley)

“This book was fantastic. The imagery was stunning. The short stories are fractured pieces of a larger tale which examines humanity from an outsider’s point of view….Humankind is worth saving, worth remembering- even after everything turns to dust.” (Marguerite Jacques, Goodreads)

“…blends cosmic horror and emotional insight, all set against the backdrop of a city that refuses to let go of its secrets. If you enjoy dark, imaginative fiction that makes you question time, love, and identity, this novel will linger with you.” (Stephanie Melucci, Netgalley)

“Four Doorways will spin you around and upend your perspective more than once. All while forcing you to gaze ever forward at the abyss that awaits, beyond space, beyond reality, at the end of time.”
(Books for Decaying Millenials)

“It’s weird, wonderful, mind boggling, genre bending, and has so much heart!” (Jen Reads Horror, Instagram)
